My "Mr. Fox" review (and "Nine" as well)
Hey, Puppet Camp Friends! Happy 2010.
Just wanted to share my “Fantastic Mr. Fox” review, which might be of interest to you as puppeteers. [In short: I wasn’t sold on the puppetry when I saw it in the commercials and the previews… but when I saw the film on the big I was floored. It’s kind of a masterpiece of puppetry, performance, and film-making. Go!]

Question for Marina and William Kentridge in NYC
I like the puppet head- What kind of wood did you use?
ANSWER: hey jeanie.. i don’t know if this is super-intrusive 9and if you guys don’t like this way of resopnding — just say so!!!) but since comments are refusing to function correctly, i figured i’d post the response in the same post—

As has been somehow magically pointed out, I haven’t been updating here. Of course, I haven’t had anything new to show until today, so I think I’m somewhat in the clear.
Anyway. Blah blah. It’s near Xmas. I’ve been working on getting the new season of my show written and built. But in the meantime, a traditional carol. Now with added functional URL.

I am a longtime fan.

These guys, the Andersen M studio, www.andersenm.com, do amaazing work-film, stopmotion, advertising, graphic design.
This short specifically, Southbank Centre – Classical Session 2007/08 has really interesting elements of shadow puppetry (within the form of stop motion)
I think puppeteers and puppetry as a whole can afford to be thinking Bigger and Broader. Because puppetry is Everywhere!...
weird little music video that combines liveaction puppetry and animation! the talking-head puppets are using the same mouth mech as Jones’ puppet
Hooray Chase welcome to the blog! can you give a little information about the process— did you use an overhead projector? what materials?

Creatures from the Volcano...Starring Yul Brynner
Hi Everyone!
I have been following and reading the Anarchy Blog since it began and I now feel it’s time for me to post something. This is a Shadow Puppet show that I developed for a unit on shadow puppetry in one of my classes this semester.
The show is called “Creatures from the Volcano…Starring Yul Brynner and the Bikini Ensemble!” The show was adapted from the comic...
This Object de Arte’ is a model ship motorized remote controlled and created by Arthur H. Poore, in 1983, just eye candy. enjoy

Wild Things, You Make My Heart Sing.
If you haven’t seen “Where the Wild Things Are” - and if you haven’t, WHY haven’t you? It’s fabulous! - you might still enjoy this (too) brief precis on how the Wild Things themselves were made, with the know-how of the Jim Henson Creature Shop. Enjoy!

this isn’t about puppetry, but creativity.
worth every single minute.
“Why is it that when you embark on any creative endeavor (writing, painting, music, acting, etc.), other people fear for your mental health? Should anyone be afraid of the work they feel they were put on this earth to do? Watch author Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love) answer these questions and more in her talk...
